Buying and Selling Property that has Water Rights
Buying/Selling
When buying or selling a home that is hooked up to Evergreen Metro Water your account will transfer upon the closing of the home because the service stays with the property. So, if you sell your home the account will be transferred to the new owner and if you are buying your home, you will receive the services attached to the property and be given a new account.
Selling
The title company that you will work with will let us know that your home is under contract, and when you close. They also request billing information for your property in order to better estimate the amount of escrow that needs to be held. If you are selling your home, the title company will also pay the last bill on your account with the escrow that is held. The title company will also inform us when the property actually closes, if the contract cancelled, or if the closing date moves.
If you are selling your home and you are on autopay, make sure that you cancel your autopay. If you are using our ACH, we will automatically cancel your autopay when we close your water/wastewater account.
Buying
When you are purchasing a home the title company provides us with your contact information; however, we do recommend contacting EMD with the contact information that you would like us to have. Once the property closes, we will send out your first bill within a month of closing. If you do not receive your first bill within that time frame, please contact us and we will be able to provide you with your bill.
New customers cannot set up an autopay account before receiving their first bill.
